Lazer Guard Disposable Laser Eye Shield

Functions

  • Protects the eye against laser radiations
  • Prevent any debris from getting into the eye during the procedure
  • Prevent corneal/retinal damage
Category:

Lazer Guard Disposable Laser Eye Shield is used to keep the eyelids fully closed during a general anesthesia, to avoid corneal abrasions. The breathable material of our Lazer Guard Disposable Laser Eye Shield protects the eye from particles during procedure and maintain the eyelids moist.

The naked human eye is very sensitive to laser radiation and can be permanently damaged from direct or reflected beams. Therefore, Lazer Guard is used as an eye cover during laser procedures and thereby protect the eye from injuries.

The extent and region of ocular damage for any given laser depends upon its wavelength. Laser light within the visible and  infrared spectrum 400 – 1400 nm (the majority of lasers utilized in dermatology) contributes to the so-called “retinal hazard region” and may result in damage to the retina, while wavelengths outside this region (i.e., ultraviolet and far infrared spectrum) are absorbed by the anterior segment of the eye and cause damage to the cornea and/or to the lens.

The extent of ocular damage is determined by the exposure duration, beam size, and laser irradiance. As laser retinal burns may be painless and the damaging beam is sometimes invisible, maximal care should be taken to provide protection for all persons in the laser suite including the patient, laser operator, assistants, and observers. The most important being the patients at the laser’s radiations are directed towards them.

Conventional Methods and the Cons

Conventional patients eye shields are difficult to put on and may not sit correctly on all patients, thereby cause some exposure from the sides. Also, these restrict the access to the area between the brows and the temples
