Face shields refers to a devices used to protect a medical professional during a procedure that might expose them to blood or other potentially infectious fluids. An example is the use of personal protective equipment to guard the face against exposure to potentially infectious materials.
Structure
It has an elastic head band with the plastic shield fastened to one side. Also, there is a foam cushioning at the forehead to add comfort for user. For improved protection from infectious agents, face shields are at a minimum, full face length with outer edges of the face shield reaching at least to the point of the ear. They also completely protect the chin and forehead.
How to put on a Face Shield
• Put on a the N95 respirator and surgical hood.
• Bending forward, hold on to the face shield with both hands, expand the elastic with the thumb and place the elastic behind the head, so that the foam rests on your forehead.
• Once the shield is positioned, check to make sure it covers the front and sides of the face and no areas are left uncovered.
How to remove the face shield
• Tilt the head forward slightly, grab the strap at the temples and pull it forward and over the head, which will let the face shield fall from the face.
• Dispose of the face shield.
